Marinelli - Landscape

Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been a major aspiration for artists of every era. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance; then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century; and finally with the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.

The artist Marinelli has his own distinctive way of interpreting reality. His is certainly a conscious simplification, revealing a side of his style that could be described as naive. But what should be spontaneous and primitive is completely contradicted by the rationality with which Marinelli carries out his simplification. The composition is constructed through pure lines and elementary geometric shapes. The color is applied in compact chromatic zones within a balanced and minimal surface.

The artist Marinelli tends to simplify reality into a minimal and rationalist representation that straddles the line between naivety and metaphysics.
