Maria Paola Remondini - Landscape

Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been a major aspiration for artists of every era. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance; then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century; and finally with the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.

In creating this landscape, Maria Paola Remondini developed a highly distinctive and recognizable style. In the painting in question, the representation of tangible reality is transfigured into a reconstruction of the world according to geometric and rational principles. There is therefore a complete adherence to the mechanomorphism of the Cubists and Futurists, which Maria Paola Remondini, however, combines with a more lyrical and magical sense of Nature. Thus, this glimpse becomes a composition of pure forms and colors, in which sunlight and its refraction on the water and buildings create the geometric rhythm.

Maria Paola Remondini was born in Nogara in 1933. She trained among the Venetian Chiaristi and the Burano school, and through her paintings she conveys a sweet melancholy full of ancient impressions, linked to a bucolic world lost and then rediscovered in the inner sphere of memory.
