Lucia Nardelli - Popular Neighborhood

Lucia Nardelli (Bolzano 1948) graduated in Sociology, with a focus on economics and law, in Trento in 1972 with a research thesis on “relationships between urban structure and interethnic relations in Bolzano”. Passionate about art, she later attended a professional design school, where she obtained her diploma. To improve her use of various painting techniques, she began attending artists’ studios. There, she learned the tricks of the trade in oil painting, watercolor, portraiture, ceramics, fabric painting, lithography, and graphic arts. The latter remained her passion, which she pursued in depth with Rina Riva at the Institute for Graphic Arts in Merano and the International Centre of Graphic Arts in Venice, and then, from 2009, at the Kunstakademie in Bad Reichenhall (D) with Prof. Jo Bukowski.   Her exhibition activity began in 1978. She has participated in over a hundred solo and group exhibitions in Italy (Bolzano, Cagliari, Florence, Rome, Padua, Trento, Trieste, Venice) and Austria (Innsbruck), Luxembourg, and Germany (Wuppertal, Bad Reichenhall).   However, her university studies led her toward an administrative profession, which she accepted by taking up a position at the Bolzano Chamber of Commerce. It was precisely her managerial role as Deputy Secretary-General of the institution and her artistic training that enabled her to organize and coordinate, between 1996 and 2013, the project for the renovation and enhancement of the Palazzo Mercantile and the establishment of the Museo Mercantile in Bolzano.     The following have written about her   Bruno Bandini, Paola Bassetti, Duccio Canestrini, Luciano De Carli, Mario Cossali, Eva Gratl, Giorgia Marotta, Pedro Fiori, Severino Perelda.   Bibliography   “Grafica di ricerca90”; “L’uomo e il tempo”; “Luci e ombre”; “per una Nuova Grafica” (Edizioni Istituto per la Grafica d’Arte di Merano, Associazione Internazionale Incisori di Roma, Centro internazionale della Grafica di Venezia, “Gruppo 90”)   Monographic catalogue 1996 (Edizioni Associazione Artisti della Provincia Autonoma di Bolzano)   Exhibition 1998 Castel Sant’Angelo di Novacella (Edizioni Associazione Artisti della Provincia Autonoma di Bolzano)   “Donne e ricerca” (Edizioni Centro Documentazione e informazione della donna di Bolzano)   “Artisti oggi” (Edizioni Provincia Autonoma di Bolzano – Cultura Italiana), 2002   “Agenda 2006” (Edizioni Associazione degli Artisti della Provincia Autonoma di Bolzano   Exhibition 2015 “Donna, Luce, Colore e Sentimento” (Edizioni Federazione Italiana Donne Arti Professioni Affari – Padova)   Exhibition “Artisti a statuto speciale” (Catalogue for Exhibition in Trento/Palazzo Thun, in Bolzano/Galleria Civica, in Sardinia at the Museo Sa Corona Arrubia in Villanovaforru (CA) and at Torre Sulis in Alghero, and finally in Palmanova, with multiple editions in 2016 and 2017)   Exhibition 2018 ”Il territorio visto dagli artisti” (Edizioni Associazione degli Artisti della Provincia Autonoma di Bolzano)
