Juan Solrao - Liberation

The work on view is titled Liberación (Liberation ). The multiple levels of interpretation lead us from the idea of ideological and conceptual liberation, both politically and individually, to liberation from figurative preconceptions, arriving at an abstract worldview, freed from the collective imagination and rooted in the artist's individuality. Abstraction allows the painter to experiment with different colors and mediums, creating a chromatic map that dissolves onto the canvas with force and immediacy.

Abstraction burst forcefully onto the global art scene in the early twentieth century. Artists broke free from the shackles of the visible and tangible to express themselves subjectively, creating compositions based on impulses, emotions, and conceptual elevations that transcend the empirical. The artist uses diverse colors to create an almost three-dimensional relief on the work, alternating chromatic fields with sinuous, curved lines that delineate boundaries and connecting features.

Juan Solrao is a painter active in Spain, known for his abstract works. His works are characterized by mixed media on canvas and demonstrate a mastery of abstraction, with organic forms and intense colors.
