Description of the work
Description of the work
The work is an abstract composition. "Abstract" derives from the Latin term "abstrahere," which means to extract or draw out. The process of abstraction, in fact, consists of eliminating the particular and individual aspects of an object to derive a universal concept. From Kandinsky to Mondrian, from Pollock to Mirò, many painters have pushed the process of abstraction to the limit in their works, paradoxically creating pure forms and pure colors that do not exist in nature, or translating their emotions and instincts into images.
In this work, Giuseppe Banfi experiments with an abstract artistic language. The entire composition is based on a geometric and mechanomorphic compositional module. This, however, is a type of geometric abstraction that goes beyond the purity of formal values, like that of Kandinsky. In this painting, Giuseppe Banfi prefigures another dimension, different from our own, thus bordering on surrealism. The figures, in fact, have a plastic and volumetric consistency, presenting themselves as tangible objects.
Giuseppe Banfi is an extremely eclectic painter. His personality is always open to experimenting with new languages and styles. Banfi's paintings range from abstract, both biomorphic and mechanomorphic, to figurative, including portraits and genre scenes.
