Description of the work
Description of the work
The painting can be defined as a genre scene, that is, the representation of an aspect of everyday life that, apparently, lacks any significant element. These types of domestic subjects were long considered minor and only began to spread in Western art starting in the 17th century. Only with the development of 19th-century realism did everyday subjects become considered as important as historical or religious ones.
In his figurative works, artist Giuseppe Banfi also demonstrates his ability to align himself with pictorial tradition. His technique allows him to achieve a naturalistic rendering of figures, respecting their natural truth. Formally, the artist expresses his personality through a rapid, painterly approach, leaving the figures intact but dismantling their forms as needed to enhance the expressiveness and dynamism of the representation.
Giuseppe Banfi is an extremely eclectic painter. His personality is always open to experimenting with new languages and styles. Banfi's paintings range from abstract, both biomorphic and mechanomorphic, to figurative, including portraits and genre scenes.
