Giuliano Censini - Red at Night

Mixed media (collage, gold leaf, tar, oil and acrylic paints) on panel

The poetic language of artist Giuliano Censini is based on an abstract vocabulary, yet his works are tangibly connected to the reality that surrounds him. In fact, through his experimentation—which includes the use of unconventional materials such as jute, tar, and collage combined with gold leaf—he seeks to impress upon the canvas the deepest impressions inspired by the Tuscan landscape. Images of nature are thus merged in various chromatic and textural layers, transforming the artwork into a true distillation of the landscape. Vegetation, earth, and cultivated fields overlap in a complex spatial structure, made possible by Giuliano Censini’s exceptional skill, in which transparent glazes of color combine perfectly with raw materials.
