Giulia Ferrari - The Limit

Giulia Ferrari is a young artist from Offanengo. With a degree in illustration, she opened the Oltre le Nuvole studio in her hometown, where creativity plays a leading role in the development of various projects and activities. Among these, we find a fascinating pictorial production in which we can discern Giulia Ferrari's experimental approach and versatility. Her works, primarily in acrylic, involve the reworking and synthesis of diverse stimuli to create a personal and original language. Her training as an illustrator undoubtedly plays a significant role in Giulia Ferrari's pictorial output. This is true even when she draws inspiration from the great models of the past, as we can see in her interpretation of Magritte's "The Lovers." In her reinterpretation of this work, Giulia Ferrari contrasts the cold hyperrealism of the Belgian master of Surrealism with a greater vividness and brilliance of colors that transform the scene from an enigmatic mystery to an enchanted fairytale. Even when she pursues her own path, the artist favors a certain clarity of chromatic zones that interact with the predominant white of the pictorial space. We can see this in a work like "The Imprint," which interprets one of the artist's most cherished themes: the female figure. But what prevails here, beyond the balance of colors, is Giulia Ferrari's elegant style, which with just a few strokes creates a refined subject, simultaneously minimalist and full of personality. The slender, elongated figure interacts perfectly with the rest of the composition, in an exquisitely painterly interpretation that also includes hints of dripping. Moreover, the artist does not wish to preclude any expressive avenue in her research. This is evident in a painting like "The Limit," which contains a strong conceptual component: the artist directly enters the work with her body, which then acquires the status of a fully-fledged performance. Furthermore, the expressive means become even freer in the expansion of the use of gestural color, which here takes on a much more significant component, but also in the use of the written word, which imbues the creative process with greater meaning.
