Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has always been an artist's aspiration. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance, then with atmospheric rendering in the 16th century, up until the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism. This work demonstrates a phase in Ginco Portacci's artistic career that was essentially figurative. It is a work with a very traditional approach, starting with its spatial structure, based on principles of orthogonal perspective. It is evident how the artist placed utmost importance on drawing, which largely constitutes the compositional framework of the work. Little room is left, however, for pictorial effects, so much so that the colors appear vibrant without atmospheric effects. Ginco Portacci is a Roman-born painter who also works as a poet. He has held over 150 exhibitions and participated in numerous national and international events. His works are exhibited in several Italian museums.
