Gilberto Carpo - The Harvester

Painter Gilberto Carpo has enjoyed a long career that has seen him become a prominent figure in the national and international painting scene. In these works, we can appreciate how his refined symbolist figurative language, with its mysterious metaphysical atmospheres, is a continuous exploration of matter in space. Thus, in the female figures or in the "Broken Chairs" series, the subjects are spread out in a complex, multidimensional space. The material, lucid and compact, is constructed according to multiple diagonals and perspective lines, interacting with a multifaceted surface. This type of investigation finds further development in nature and landscape painting, where the various stratifications of rocks and gullies provide the inspiration for a more accentuated geometricization of space, thus giving rise to an aesthetic tending toward abstraction.
