Description of the work
Description of the work
The work is an abstract composition. Abstraction derives from the Latin term “Abstrahere,” which means to extract, to pull out. The process of abstraction, in fact, consists in eliminating the particular and individual aspects of an object to derive a universal concept. From Kandinsky to Mondrian, from Pollock to Miró, many painters pushed the process of abstraction to its limits in their works, paradoxically creating pure forms and pure colors that do not exist in nature, or translating their emotions and their instinctuality into images.
G. Locatelli is a painter open to various styles and influences. In this case, the artist is inspired by the explorations of harmony and color balance typical of Piet Mondrian. In a kind of citationism, Trotta reinterprets the geometric reconstructions of the Dutch painter but with a new kind of expressiveness; in fact, instead of breaking the composition into regular panels, he prefers one made of triangular and angular shapes. In this way, the composition has a more broken rhythm and, moreover, offers no pauses (almost no white is used), and its structure is compact. However, he remains faithful to the principle of the mechanomorphic and neoplastic reconstruction of perceived reality.
The artist G. Locatelli is a painter open to various compositional solutions. His pictorial production is divided between a more classical and traditional figurative style and experimentation inspired by the abstract avant-gardes.
