Description of the work
Description of the work
Inspired by a scientific journal article, the artist created a series of paintings, including this one featuring butterflies and fractal spirals. The article addressed the scientific theory known as "The Butterfly Effect," a phrase used to describe the extreme sensitivity of initial conditions in nonlinear dynamic systems. In other words, infinitesimal variations in the initial conditions of an event produce large and growing variations over time. The butterfly effect, in chaos theory, states that "the flap of a butterfly's wings can cause a hurricane on the other side of the world." Modern science, quantum mechanics, and fractal geometry are topics from which the artist draws inspiration, because they offer the possibility of interpreting life itself according to a model that is no longer Euclidean mechanistic, but entirely new, one that views reality not in terms of pure matter, but of energy in eternal motion and evolution...in the artist's paintings, this concept is often symbolically represented by the presence of butterflies.
The thickness of the canvas is 4.5 cm
