Elio De Pasco - Landscape

Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been a major aspiration for artists of every era. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance, then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century, up until the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.

As we can see in this work, De Pasco's style is distinguished by a naive nature that leads him to simplify reality into shapes and colors that do not correspond to the perceptible world, but rather reflect a need to return to primary, pure values. This simplification corresponds to an elaborate form, with color applied in bold horizontal and vertical lines, giving the work a strong dynamic impulse.

E. De Pasco is an artist who has developed his own highly personal pictorial language. In his works, we see a simplification of reality similar to that of naive painters, with a formal quality that could instead be described as impressionistic.
