Description of the work
Description of the work
Landscape has always played a leading role in artistic research, both as a setting and a backdrop, but also as a subject in its own right. The naturalistic description of landscape has been one of the greatest aspirations for artists of every era. Each historical period has given its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its description: first with a research into space, through Brunelleschian perspective in the early Renaissance; then on the rendering of atmosphere in the sixteenth century; up to the representation of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.
From the analysis of this moonlit landscape, we can see how the artist Del Sorbo tends to transfigure reality into an enchanted dimension of fairy tales and dreams. His figurative language, in fact, is modulated in a varied way in order to construct a reality with magical undertones. The vegetation in the foreground is created using a calligraphic technique that builds the objects with thin lines and envelops them in an exuberant polychromy. The little village, on the other hand, in the background, is rendered through a very synthetic application entirely played on shades of pink. Everything is reflected in the mirror-like surface of the water, which, in turn, reverberates the moonlight. Light that expands from the center of the work through circular halos. All the colors are lit with an unusual brilliance, almost fluorescent, and contribute to definitively fixing this landscape in a dreamlike atmosphere.
The artist Del Sorbo stands out for a very original and creative style that leads to transfiguring reality into a fairy-tale dimension. His pictorial language involves the meeting of different techniques, on a substantially figurative basis, which allow him to transform the world into a magical and fairy-tale vision. Very important, in this sense, is the use that the artist makes of color and light, which take on particularly vivid and brilliant tones.
