De Pretis - Landscape

The landscape painter De Pretis's artistic expression is based on the naturalistic yet expressionistic depiction of a view of a farmhouse in the countryside, using dark colors that evoke the arrival of a storm. Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been a major aspiration for artists throughout the ages. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance; then with atmospheric rendering in the 16th century; and finally with the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism. The lyricism of the painter De Pretis develops a view with evocative and picturesque characteristics. The resulting style is lively and dynamic, which formally ensures freshness and immediacy of execution. The whole is balanced by dark tones that make the canvas an evocative work. This is particularly evident in the rendering of the dynamic blanket of snow that covers this piece of nature. De Pretis is a painter who focuses primarily on landscapes, with a highly lyrical vision of phenomenal reality. For the artist, translating emotions into images through a vibrant, cursive style inspired by impressionism is essential.
