Description of the work
Description of the work
Landscape has always played a leading role in artistic research, both as a setting and a backdrop, but also as a subject in its own right. The naturalistic description of landscape has been one of the greatest aspirations for artists of every era. Each historical period has given its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its description: first with a study of space, through Brunelleschian perspective in the early Renaissance; then with the rendering of atmosphere in the sixteenth century; and finally with the representation of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.
Corrado Mele's pictorial language certainly drew on an Expressionist tendency in its formal synthesis, the vehemence of its application, and the aggressiveness of its chromatic choices. However, the artist developed his own aesthetic that makes him extremely recognizable. The thick brushstrokes are structural, highlighting the volumes of objects in a crumpled and complex space, in which the various dimensions overlap one another. The expressive and dynamic brushwork remains constant, constructing objects with a restless synthesis.
The artist Corrado Mele is distinguished by his Expressionist exploration of application and color within a complex space. His work is characterized by the recurring theme of boats moored in port views.
