Hills of the Marche

The work, already framed for its exhibition, depicts a typical Marche landscape, with its hills and rural farmhouses blending in with them. The shapes of the hills are deliberately sketched in a non-detailed manner, allowing the viewer to piece together the profile of each hill and the intersection of the various shapes. The descending slopes are accentuated by brushstrokes of red, blue, purple, and ochre, guiding the eye through the reconstruction of the shapes that compose the composition. At the base of the reliefs is the plain; this is once again drawn with radiating lines and an abundance of texture to emphasize both perspective and three-dimensionality.
