I am essentially self-taught, and I began to paint figurative paintings, copying glimpses of the countryside, seascapes, mountains from photographs, and imaginatively creating prehistoric animals. In 1988, by frequenting other artists, I significantly improved my painting, thanks to the careful observation of seeing the works of other painter colleagues created, thus managing to refine my painting technique, making a notable leap in quality.

This is the opinion of those who saw the works I created during that period. From 1989, with the birth of my son Stefano, I abandoned painting for three years to dedicate myself to my family. In 1992, the call of art was too strong, and so I began painting again. I was trying to find an original way to express myself, so as not to be "the same" as other artists. I have always been fascinated by the "Past", and after years of research and a continuous maturation of my pictorial skills, in 1994 I noticed the Holy Shroud... and it was like an intuition: I connected the image of the man imprinted on the cloth with the key to interpreting time.

The traces that can be seen on the Sacred Cloth, I reproduce in my paintings with multiple vertical lines, and in some parts of the canvas you can also see fading lines, like folds that "speak" of a past, testifying to a passage of time that depicts an existence that was there..., and is present today, and will also be present in the future.

So my way of expressing myself artistically wants to be a reading message in reference to the man imprinted on the Sacred Cloth, which generates admiration for a past existence, present today, and usable also in the future.

Awards and recognitions

Since 1995, Balducci has received countless awards and recognitions from critics, and has exhibited in group and solo exhibitions in Italy and abroad: Stand Arte Contemporanea Palazzo Nervi in ​​Turin (1998), a work donated to the Pinacoteca Italiana in Hong Kong (2003), the International Contemporary Art Fair (in collaboration with the Alba Art Gallery in Ferrara) in New York in 2001, at the Javits Convention Center – stand 1235, and the Arsinoè Gallery in Paris (2008).

His works are exhibited in public institutions and private collections in Italy and abroad.
