Carla Silvi - Umbrellas

Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has always been an artist's aspiration. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance, then with atmospheric rendering in the 16th century, up until the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.

The artistic production of painter Carla Silvi reveals a strong personality with a clear and precise language. Indeed, we are in the presence of a painter who bases her entire aesthetic on harmony and balance, both formally and in terms of color. Carla Silvi pursues reality and seeks to capture it in an eternal moment of perfection suspended in time. For this reason, her compositions are always calibrated and rationally structured. Space is often constructed on an airy perspective in which views fade into the horizon. Within this spatial box, objects appear in their solid and compact volumes. To this end, a solid drawing structure intervenes, confidently tracing the lines of the composition as it escapes into depth. Color, usually applied in a compact manner, intervenes on this stable framework, precisely with the aim of capturing the subject in an eternal moment. A highly objectifying approach, therefore, that avoids excessive pictorialism and instead allows the colors to emerge clearly in their brilliant hues. The light can then spread clear and crisp, creating evocative diagonal shadows.

Carla Silvi is a painter from Verona. She demonstrates a strong classical education, which she expresses with remarkable technique. Her favorite subjects are landscapes, views framed by doors or windows, or interiors, as well as still lifes. Her style is predominantly objective realism, but she also embraces more concise, impressionistic depictions.
