Carla Silvi - Farmhouses

The urban landscape was already a popular subject in the Middle Ages and the Modern Era, but predominantly in an idealized manner. Scenes of city life became typical themes with a more realistic interpretation starting in the 19th century. It's worth remembering how, immediately following the realist movements of the 19th century, the Impressionists also placed great emphasis on the everyday, on everyday life, with a certain predilection, however, for the frenetic pace of the city, its crowds, traffic, and typically bourgeois settings.

Painter Carla Silvi's style generally embraces a rather objective realism, with color laid uniformly in its bright, luminous hues. However, in some paintings, mostly landscapes or cityscapes, the painter doesn't shy away from the temptation to immortalize the subject more quickly and immediately. Her strokes then become more cursive, quickly capturing forms and translating them into the painting. The volumes undergo a certain degree of erosion, always controlled, due to a more pronounced atmosphericism. These are therefore works in which Carla Silvi demonstrates a preference for a more fresh character over an objective image suspended in time. The colors are always vivid and full of chromatic vibrations. In this work, the watercolor technique involves application through transparent glazes.

Carla Silvi is a painter from Verona. She demonstrates a strong classical education, which she expresses with remarkable technique. Her favorite subjects are landscapes, views framed by doors or windows, or interiors, as well as still lifes. Her style is predominantly objective realism, but she also embraces more concise, impressionistic depictions.
