Description of the work
Description of the work
Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has always been an artist's aspiration. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance, then with atmospheric rendering in the 16th century, up until the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.
In this painting, Bruno Artioli develops a unique interpretation of landscape painting, centered on a rational organization of the composition. The view transcends phenomenal reality to acquire a completely objective character, devoid of any particularism. In this way, the landscape elements are reduced to pure forms and pure colors. The composition is divided, almost geometrically, into compactly arranged bands of color.
Bruno Artioli was a painter originally from Nocera Umbra, where he was born in 1943, and died in Galliate in 2000. An artist who was primarily involved in landscape painting, which he interpreted with both classic naturalism and abstract geometric purity.
