Description of the work
Description of the work
The “Still Life” genre emerged at the beginning of the 17th century. It consists of the representation of compositions of inanimate subjects, in most cases flowers or fruit. If at the beginning of its history it was an opportunity for painters to try their hand at a naturalistic or photographic reproduction of reality, with contemporary art “Still Life” also becomes a way of interpreting reality. Indeed, as will happen, for example, in the cubist avant-garde or in Giorgio Morandi, the profound research on objects will be aimed at a conceptual representation, taken beyond the simple sensory data.
As we can see from the analysis of this painting, the subject of the “Still Life” constitutes for Bogoni the pretext to develop his own original aesthetic conception. The artist starts, first of all, from a geometric reconstruction of reality, for him it is fundamental to investigate the form and structure of objects and arrange them in a rational system (and the choice of the “Still Life” of objects is very indicative in this sense). However, Bogoni himself wants to crack this established order to accentuate the expressiveness of the work. And so he blurs the objects to make them more vibrant with energies in their existence. Even the choice of colors does not reflect a reproduction from life but is based on values of an expressionistic type. Furthermore, it is worth noting how the entire composition is characterized by an elegant and refined minimalism.
As we can infer from the analysis of his works, Bogoni is an artist who has developed his own aesthetic conception that perfectly combines a geometric and minimal rationalism with a restless expressionism.
