Description of the work
Description of the work
The "Still Life" genre emerged in the early 17th century. It consists of compositions of inanimate subjects, most often flowers or fruit. While initially it was an opportunity for painters to attempt a photographic reproduction of reality, with contemporary art the "Still Life" also becomes a way of interpreting reality, as it did for the Cubists or Giorgio Morandi.
The pictorial language of Senigallia-born Armando Ballanti draws inspiration from a lively naturalism. He possesses a remarkable technique that allows him to effortlessly reproduce objects, delineate them sculpturally, and seek spatial depth. He displays a highly classical inclination, yet his brushstrokes possess a certain impressionistic verve that gives his works immediacy and freshness. This is also due to his penchant for bright, vibrant colors, full of light.
Armando Ballanti was a painter originally from Senigallia, born in 1922 and died in 2009. He was an artist who conceived of art in a very classical way, with a soft naturalism, tempered by a lively, impressionistic-inspired approach.
