Landscape has always played a leading role in artistic research, both as a setting and a backdrop, but also as a subject in its own right. The naturalistic description of landscape has been one of the greatest aspirations for artists of every era. Each historical period has given its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its description: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschian perspective in the early Renaissance; then with the rendering of atmosphere in the sixteenth century; and finally with the representation of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.

In this work, the painter Angelo Manini demonstrates his technical skill by bringing to life a landscape characterized by a dreamlike, almost surreal aura. The entire space, framed by an orderly perspective, appears enveloped in a vibrant, golden twilight atmosphere that reflects off the crisp volumes of the objects. Thus, the light, coming from the large sun to our left, casts its rays on the objects, creating scenographic contrasts of light and shadow. Manini's application of paint contributes to a sense of warmth with its textured pictorial style.
