Description of the work
Description of the work
The work is an abstract genre composition. Abstraction derives from the Latin term “Abstrahere,” which means to extract, to pull out. The process of abstraction, in fact, consists in eliminating the particular and individual aspects of an object to derive a universal concept. From Kandinsky to Mondrian, from Pollock to Miró, many painters pushed the process of abstraction to its limits in their works, paradoxically creating pure forms and pure colors that do not exist in nature, or translating their emotions and instinctuality into images.
Andrea Spuntarelli’s pictorial research is based on a highly abstracted process of forms, rooted in the perception of sounds, voices, and colors. For this reason, the results of his pictorial work are often heterogeneous, because Andrea starts from a theme, but the expressive developments, guided by his deep and refined sensitivity, can be unpredictable. In some cases, he remains closer to a figurative formal style, although he transforms it through the synthesis achieved by sensory perception. In other cases, however, he creates concrete forms that practically do not exist in nature and which lead him to explore dimensions other than our own. Despite this variety of outcomes and approaches, the artist’s language remains consistent, founded on a solid expressionist-abstract base. The gestural component is highly significant, relying also on tactile interventions and, in an elaborate pictorial application, distinguishing itself through large, energetic strokes or more calligraphic graphic marks. From a chromatic perspective, the use of colors with a strong emotional and spiritual value falls within the expressionist tradition, in a balanced dialogue between carefully selected tones within the overall economy of the work.
Andrea Spuntarelli was born in Tivoli in 2000 and lives and works in Guidonia Montecchio. He is a young artist full of passion and talent, guided by his refined sensory attitude. He initially dedicated himself to studying the piano, but his true passion is painting, which, however, also stems from musical inspiration. In his pictorial production, he has adopted an abstract-inspired language that he interprets with his own original inclination. Some of his works are exhibited at the “La Stanza dell'Arte” gallery in Guidonia and, in the future, he would like to open his own studio.
