Alongi - Landscape

Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has always been an artist's aspiration. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance, then with atmospheric rendering in the 16th century, up until the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.

Alongi's landscapes are fundamentally traditional, based on a perspective framing. However, the artist doesn't allow himself to be caged by this grid, which he willingly breaks, allowing color to create space with its tonal values. Alongi's colors are always coherent, balanced in a sober equilibrium. Formally, the painting is rapid and cursive, resulting in a somewhat naive simplification of reality with an extremely genuine spirit.

Alongi is an artist who primarily paints landscapes. His language is essentially classical, but it's enlivened by a naive spirit that gives his works a freshness and vivacity.
