In this masterful work, one can see how the defining characteristic of Riso's landscapes is an intense use of white. The white of the light, reflecting off the walls of the houses, predominates in the composition, almost transfiguring reality. This allows the artist to convey the warmth of his homeland through the use of colors brimming with luminous vibrations.

Aldo Riso, born in Santa Maria di Leuca in 1928 and passed away in Rome in 2008, was an artist from Puglia who made his homeland his favorite subject, portraying it with a refined watercolor technique. This earned him extraordinary popularity. His career began with his first exhibition in 1956, and he subsequently exhibited his works not only in Italy but also in Cologne, Berlin, Vienna, Paris, Philadelphia, Belgrade, Athens, Barcelona, ​​Madrid, Montreal, Toronto, New York, Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Asuncion, and South Africa.
