Description of the work
Description of the work
The iconography of maternity is linked to the subject of the Madonna and Child. It is probably one of the most popular iconographies in the entire history of art, both Western and Eastern. The Madonna and Child appears from the very beginnings of medieval painting and remains a constant subject as long as religious themes were prevalent in artistic production (that is, until the 19th century when themes inspired by everyday life began to be introduced). It is quite common among contemporary artists to treat the iconography of maternity without directly linking it to Christianity, as in this work by Aldo Pecoraro.
As we can see from the analysis of this work, the style of the painter Aldo Pecoraro draws on suggestions that refer to an archaic and primordial conception of artistic creation. His language draws inspiration from the art of African civilizations, recovering their expressiveness of color and powerful synthesis of forms. The whole is then contextualized by a modern sensibility according to a complex conception of the pictorial work. A conception that involves the cubist decomposition into a non-unique space, built on multiple directions and perspective lines. All this flows into the formal aspect of the work in which the essential and primordial forms are exalted by the black line that decomposes the space. Thus, areas are created ready to receive the chromatic zones which in turn compose a harmonious balance of warm and brown colors.
The artist Aldo Pecoraro stands out for a refined pictorial production in which he combines a careful study of Cubism with suggestions coming from the art of ancient African civilizations.
