Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has always been an artist's aspiration. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance, then with atmospheric rendering in the 16th century, up until the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.

Painter Alberto Colusso's interpretation of nature and landscape is always recognizable and highly personal. First and foremost, we can observe his highly naive approach, which leads him to simplify phenomenal reality with a refined spontaneity. The world is simplified in a search for simple, primary values, which is also reflected in his choice of a pure color palette. Formally, we can observe a very lively pictorial approach that uses rapid, cursive hatching to summarize objects in a simple and immediate manner.

Alberto Colusso is an artist devoted almost exclusively to landscape painting, which he interprets with a pure, clear clarity and a naive simplification of reality. His pictorial style is imbued with an impressionistic spontaneity and immediacy.
