Apotropaic waters

Mixed-media artwork, composed of a glass bas-relief and a tempera background.
A slightly rippled, transparent glass plate with a raised white, sugar-textured surface sits atop a monochrome watercolor-style tempera background. The glass and graphic elements combine to create an apotropaic symbol of good fortune in the colors of the sky. In particular, the crystalline white texture evokes lace, a symbol of protection and beauty.
Framed in black-painted wood. Unique piece.
