After spending two years in captivity in Germany, from 1943 to 1945, as a soldier who had not joined the R.S.I., he enrolled in the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna after the war, where he graduated having had highly renowned artists as teachers, including Giorgio Morandi, Giovanni Romagnoli, and Ercole Drei. He then began university studies at the Faculty of Architecture, but left after a few years. Alongside his painting, he spent years pursuing a passion for building extraordinary kites, for which he is still remembered by many people from Castel Bolognese who had met him as a child on the town's meadows. In 1981, he was invited to join the organizing committee for the National Monument to the Fallen in the clearing of the minefields, which was unveiled in Castel Bolognese on April 14, 1984, the day of its inauguration. In 1993, he was selected to create a work for the Dozza Painted Wall Biennale; the large-scale work Reminescenza is visible on the facade of a house in via della Pace in Dozza. He also participated in numerous group exhibitions in towns across Romagna.
