Biography
Antonino Ferro is an artist who interprets faith through art, but his eclectic training has also made him an electrical engineer, writer and inventor. From childhood he showed a natural talent for drawing, recognised by his teachers, and he cultivated a deep relationship with the Bible and the Gospel. In the 1990s he developed a personal technique based on the assembly of geometric figures, born from his study of sacred geometry. This technique became a means of representing Christian symbols such as the Eucharist, the Cross, the Immaculate Heart and the Transfiguration, in which every form and every colour takes on a precise and meditative meaning. Antonino Ferro often emphasises that each of his works is unique and unrepeatable, the fruit of a personal journey and careful study, without imitating other styles or models. Each work originates from a drawing executed in tempera on canvas-mounted panel. From these originals, prints are produced, meticulously finished, printed on Modigliani paper and hand-signed by the artist. Each print is accompanied by a written explanation in both Italian and English, which illustrates the symbolic and theological meaning of the subject, making the message of the Bible and the Gospel clear. In 2012 he published "Interpretazione Geometrica dei Simboli Cristiani", reprinted in 2021, which gathers his principal works and their explanations. The images are conceived to make the message of Christian symbols visible, translating the Word into concrete signs, accompanied by a conscious use of colour as a communicative element. Some works have been presented to leading figures of the Church, beginning with Giovanni Paolo II, as an expression of devotion and spiritual dialogue. Alongside his artistic activity, Antonino Ferro is an electrical engineer and works at the Istituto San Gaspare Bertoni in Udine. A graduate of the Istituto Tecnico Industriale in Mazara del Vallo in 1986, he has attended professional courses in technical and scientific fields and develops research projects and inventions. He is also the author of several books, ranging from art to science, from technology to popular science, confirming his curiosity and intellectual versatility. For Ferro, every work springs from colour, form and gesture, as an expression of his own vision and his own faith.
