Annalisa Mignozzi

Annalisa Mignozzi lives in Sovicille, near Siena. Art has surrounded her from an early age: her father had connections with various painters, often recognising their worth within the national historical and artistic context before critics brought them to fame, as was the case with Giorgio de Chirico and Antonio Ligabue. Her father soon recognised her talent for art as well, and encouraged her to continue drawing and painting. Her youth was followed by a period of artistic silence lasting roughly thirty years, before the artist returned to painting. A few years ago, surrounded by the colours of the Tuscan autumn, she expressed her desire to devote herself to art once more and, with the support of her family, resumed, first by following step by step the instructions in painting magazines, until she gained the confidence in her hand needed to devote herself to her own works. She often takes one or more photographs of subjects that touch her deeply and begins to recreate them on paper and canvas. Her pictorial language is figurative, and a common thread running through her paintings is the use of vivid, brilliant and instinctive colour.
