Biography
Daniele Masini was born on 1 February 1951 in Forli, where he still lives and works. From a young age he developed a passion for art and chose to attend the Istituto d'arte di Forli, where he would later return as holder of the painting chair. His artistic debut took place in 1971, with participation in the Biennale Romagnola and a solo exhibition at the Galleria Maioli. Twenty years of intense exhibiting activity followed. His career encompasses numerous painting cycles spread across the decades, and his studio today houses some four thousand works, including canvases, works on paper and prints. The artist feels most at ease creating large-scale canvases, a preference that may be traced back to his training as a set designer at the Accademia delle Belle Arti di Bologna. In these works he is able to render moving bodies, the dynamism of masses and perspectival geometries to best effect. He has also curated various exhibitions, among which the posthumous shows of Gino del Zozzo, Sergio Camporesi and Giorgio Spada deserve mention. His artistic career has earned him recognition at both national and international level, including the Premio Campigna, the award at the Biennale Romagnola and the critics' prize "Marco Aurelio".
