Daniela Vinattieri

Daniela Vinattieri has been working as a painter since 1998, and over the past ten years she has focused her artistic production mainly on the female figure. Her works are rich in symbols, particularly the seashell and fish, elements linked to the theme of silence in reference to domestic violence. This subject, which is often given little attention and is still insufficiently regulated in Italy, is one of Vinattieri's principal sources of inspiration, and she seeks to express the silence and isolation of victims through her art. Her works are predominantly executed in oil on canvas, sometimes over an acrylic ground, while others are painted without any preparation. When choosing female subjects, she draws inspiration from fashion magazine models, not for their aesthetic appearance but for the postures and gestures that strike her. The faces of her women are similar to one another, so that they are easily recognisable and convey a universal message. Furthermore, the seashell represents the home and the family, which tragically is the place where femicides occur, while the fish symbolise silence, that of the victims who, trapped in their isolation, have no voice with which to recount their suffering.
