Biography
Daniela Bendoni, born in Rome in 1942, has always lived immersed in art and colour. After graduating from the Istituto di Arredamento Hotech, she worked as a draughtswoman in the studio of the architect Giorgio Molinario, before earning her maturità artistica at the Liceo Artistico di Via Ripetta and graduating in Painting from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma, where she studied under professors Montanarini and Maccari. It was a teacher who first sparked her love of art history, an interest that has accompanied her throughout her life and profoundly shaped her artistic vision. In the early years of her career, Daniela favoured neutral colours and delicate tones, such as beige and grey, especially in her backgrounds. After a great personal sorrow, her painting underwent a transformation: she began to use bright, vivid colours, allowing intense and profound contrasts to emerge, which today characterise her expressive signature. Colour has become for her a necessary, almost indispensable tool, with which she recounts emotions, memories and visions of the world. Alongside acrylic painting, Daniela also loves pencil drawing on canvas and sometimes experiments with watercolours, which she likewise applies on canvas to lend lightness and transparency to her works. In parallel with painting, Daniela has developed extensive experience in cinema and theatre: she has collaborated with film festivals, theatres and leading artists, overseeing organisation, press offices and set design, including for the Fondo Pier Paolo Pasolini, Raitre (Schegge, Blob, Fuori Orario) and the theatre production Todo Modo. A lover of reading, surrounded by books, Daniela finds in painting and culture tools for expression and reflection. The other great love of her life is animals: dogs and horses, often featured in her paintings, alongside the architecture and monuments that fascinate her, with a particular passion for Michelangelo and the great masterpieces of art history. Her works combine precision and freedom of gesture, contrasts of colour and play of light.
