Anton Luigi Alfieri

Ninni Alfieri was born in Asmara, Ethiopia (today Eritrea), on 25 June 1953. An industrial chemist by profession and a travel photographer by passion, he ceased his professional activity, during which he managed various food-industry companies in Italy and abroad, and settled permanently in Olbia, which he chose as the base for his photographic tours of the island during the spring and summer months, devoting the rest of the year to photographic journeys to distant countries. His most recent trips have taken him to Northern Ethiopia, to photograph the famous rock-hewn churches and the world of Coptic Christianity; to Uganda, for gorilla trekking; to Northern Thailand, in search of mountain peoples and ethnic groups; and to southern Ethiopia, in the Omo Valley, to portray colourful ethnic groups now on the verge of extinction. He favours portraits but, as a true traveller, also loves panoramic shots, and he enjoys studying and creating particular treatments of his photographs, which he prints and adapts to various types of media.
