Biography
Angelo Maiorana was born in 1978 in Pinerolo (TO) and came to painting as a self-taught artist from 2007 onwards. His passion for art took shape after visiting several international exhibitions, an experience that drove him to experiment and to deepen his knowledge of techniques and materials. His first works focused on landscapes and still lifes, through which he learned to master colour and composition. Over time, however, his pictorial language evolved towards a more profound and personal dimension, moving towards Surrealism and conceptual art. His works become an expression of the unconscious, inviting the viewer to a free interpretation through symbols and intense colour.
Maiorana's creative process follows two distinct paths: sometimes it begins with a Surrealist symbol to express a theme, at other times it arises directly from his unconscious. In both cases he produces a sketch on paper, but it is during the execution of the work that the concept gradually takes shape. By picking up on the reactions of those who observe the painting in progress, he refines its meaning and develops it with greater depth.
Kites and butterflies are among the recurring elements in his art, symbols of freedom and lightness. The kite, in particular, represents for him a link with childhood, a return to spontaneity and the purity of emotions.
The artist began his experimentation with oil painting, but over the years he has preferred the use of acrylic, although its nuances are more difficult to achieve. His technique has been refined over time, always maintaining a strong connection with the inner and meditative dimension.
A keen practitioner of yoga, Maiorana often finds inspiration in meditation, during which he has visions that he then transfers into his paintings. His works have taken part in numerous group and solo exhibitions, including shows in Baldissero d'Alba, Ferrara, Rivoli, Terni, Assisi and Pinerolo. He was selected for the Pentastrattismo group and exhibited at the MUDI in Rodello d'Alba with the work "Anima".
Through his art, Angelo Maiorana does not merely create images, but seeks to convey profound emotions, leaving a trace of himself in his works.
