Biography
Alberto Griggio was born on 12 December 1977 in Camposampiero, in the province of Padua. From an early age he showed a natural inclination for drawing and graphic design, which led him to enrol, at just 14, at the Istituto Professionale di Grafica Pubblicitaria "Giovanni Valle" in Padua. It was here that his passion for art history and painting took root, fields that would profoundly influence his artistic path. After his studies, the artist embarked on an initially academic path, characterised by simple subjects and a strong respect for the classical canons of proportion and symmetry. This phase, dominated by an idea of beauty linked to graphic composition, evolved over time through careful experimentation. Fascinated by the capacity for faithful reproduction and inspired by the works of Tamara de Lempicka, he painted his first oil work, finding in the brush and colour a personal and therapeutic form of expression. His output is marked by a gradual stylistic transformation: from the caricatures and drawings made with ink, pastels and pencils, a legacy of his graphic training, he arrived at a painting that favours oil on canvas, enriched by abstract elements and a constant search for compositional balance. Through self-taught study, also drawing on online courses and tutorials, the artist has refined his visual language, always keeping alive a curiosity for the details of the world around him, often captured in photographs and then reinterpreted in his works.
Currently, the artist's work focuses on complex compositions that combine concrete elements with abstract dimensions, creating dense and well-defined pictorial spaces. Having abandoned traditional portraiture, his art is a continuous exploration of the possibilities offered by the union of classical proportions and modern intuitions, with particular attention to the beauty and completeness of the pictorial space. His latest works are the fruit of long reflection, guided by the intention to capture fleeting sensations and transform them into tangible visions on canvas.
The artist made his debut in 2005, taking part in the Fiera d'Arte di Padova with his first works. The following year, he exhibited in Vicenza with a solo show entitled Last Work. His most recent exhibition dates back to October of last year, at the Pio Sodalizio dei Piceni in Rome, near Castel Sant'Angelo.
