Indeed, the subject, while remaining figurative, is depicted according to canons that completely transcend the sensory world and direct us to an otherworldly dimension. The figures of mother and child have generic features and well-defined plastic volumes, but their consistency is almost swallowed up by the blinding light the artist has imbued this painting with. He painted from a young age and had a difficult life, having to adapt to various jobs to cope with poverty. Initially, he devoted himself to figurative art, then, in the 1960s, he moved towards Informal Art.
