It was a period in which Carmi, as head of image at the Italsider plant in Cornigliano, advocated a parallel path between art and industry. Carmi's abstract art, therefore, draws on Kinetic Art and Op Art, drawing on their geometric and serial nature, consciously exploiting the possibilities offered by mechanical reproduction.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n \u003cp style=\"text-align: justify;\"\u003eEugenio Carmi was born in Genoa in 1920 and passed away in Lugano in 2016. Since the 1950s, he has been considered one of the leading exponents of Italian Abstraction. Initially trained under Casorati, he soon abandoned figurative art to turn to Informalism. From the late 1960s, his artistic language was based on geometric rigor and the seriality of mechanical reproduction. His aesthetic thus drew closer to the principles of kinetic art, which he would develop in various experimental forms.
