The naturalistic depiction of landscape has always been an artist's aspiration. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance, then with atmospheric rendering in the 16th century, up until the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.

The entire research of Davide Coltro, inventor of the electronic picture frame, focuses on the existence of electrical energy fields in phenomenal reality. These energies are invisible, but Davide Coltro seeks to bring them to light. In his paintings, he seeks to advance this discourse even without the use of a true technological medium, addressing his needs solely through color. Hence, technopainting, a type of color endowed with its own luminescence and fluorescence. By applying this type of layering to a landscape, the artist creates a luminous installation, similar to a land art project. Compositionally, the landscape becomes minimal, transforming into a balanced, almost abstract field of color.

Davide Coltro was born in Verona in 1967.
