Subsequently, painters, especially the Impressionists, increasingly focused on the floral world as an extraordinary opportunity to capture vibrant colors and light. Thus, flowers began to appear not only in vases, but also immersed in their natural landscape. While initially a pretext for painters to attempt a photographic reproduction of reality, with contemporary art, the subject of flowers also becomes a way of interpreting reality.

Concetto Pozzati's art can be defined as a surrealism dictated, however, by a cold compositional rationality. Even in this vase of flowers, for example, we can see how the subject is synthesized through a clear interplay of pure lines on a two-dimensional plane. The result is an extremely elegant graphic work, even in the background, where the play of shadows creates a pleasing black and white duotone.

Concetto Pozzati was born in Vo' in 1935 and passed away in Bologna in 2017.
