Subsequently, painters, especially the Impressionists, increasingly focused on the floral world as an extraordinary opportunity to capture vibrant colors and light. Thus, flowers began to appear not only in vases, but also immersed in their natural landscape. While initially a pretext for painters to attempt a photographic reproduction of reality, with contemporary art, the subject of flowers also becomes a way of interpreting reality.

Athos Faccincani's compositions are always based on a predominance and exuberance of color. Even in this vase of flowers, the design is left in the background, and the entire structure is based on brushstrokes, full of bright, luminous hues. The exuberance of color is such that the painter is almost unable to control it in this work, where the entire surface is filled with the luminous vibrations of the flowers in a sort of horror vacui.

The painter Athos Faccincani was born in Peschiera del Garda in 1951. His artistic career is distinguished by an initial, more expressionist phase, in which he painted a dark world, filled with suffering. It was a time when Faccincani frequented prisons and psychiatric hospitals to express this suffering. In his more recent phase, he has instead devoted himself to sun-drenched landscapes, which he creates in a style tending toward a more cheerful expressionism, close to Fauvism.
